Nafisah Daniella Ozohu Suleiman Poems

"Where did she go? " Aunt said.
I heard vividly from behind as I ran.
I ran with the world in my head.
I didn't know I was lost…maybe in my head or maybe in my mind.
...

What is my crime for being quiet and shy?
If you are loud and fly.
What is my crime of being different as fine?
If you are the different of cool.
...

I am the moon, aglow in the night,
A beacon of calm, a soft silver light.
I am the ocean, untamed and free,
Each wave a testament to my identity.
...

I am no stranger to purpose's call;
I gather my sweetness, a song for all.
Inspiring, maddening, and stirring the page—
These words of mine light the stage.
...

Beautiful justice, a radiant gleam,
A hope restored, a sacred dream.
It rises high, like dawn's embrace,
Illuminating every hidden place.
...

'It is well, ' the heart declares,
Amid the burdens, amid the cares.
Through tempests wild, through waters deep,
A quiet strength, a peace to keep.
...

That night, the fireflies lit the air,
Their glow was everywhere, yet I didn't care. Unnoticed, they sparkled in silent flight,
Until the streetlights dimmed their harsh light.
Only then did their beauty find my sight.
...

Mama, let go…
Let go to a place where hope can grow.
Mama, it's me—your grandkid!
Let go to a place where hope can glow.

I am turning gold,
Slowly, steadily,
Refined by the fire.
Yes, the pain is there,
...

Born of sacred earth,
pure as snow and deep as coal—
soul with no shadow.
...

I found a door that wasn't there before,
It opened wide, but led to something more—
A sky of clocks, a tree that sang my name,
...

The moon was split,
a hollow silver eye,
And trees bore leaves
that whispered how to die.
...

They tried to cage my thunder,
Tame the wild behind my eyes—
But I was born for breaking limits,
Phenomenal… and I rise.

The World In Her Head.

"Where did she go? " Aunt said.
I heard vividly from behind as I ran.
I ran with the world in my head.
I didn't know I was lost…maybe in my head or maybe in my mind.
I was a lost Princess, Nightingale.

I admired my dress in Scarlet as the finest.
And I must confess, I was silly not like the lily.
Believe me, I didn't know I was lost…maybe in my head or maybe in my mind.

I will tell you the story, Nightingale.

She was a lost Princess, Nightingale.
She didn't know the truth.
She didn't know she would soon meet the beginning of her story.

Jesus called her out
And she stopped, in that minute.
She became still;
Quite still and unusually calm.

She was no longer lost…maybe in her head or maybe in her mind.
Jesus wore her a white dress
with so much beauty and glory.

Now, She has her beginning
and her end in Jesus Christ.
