I have before me two acrostic poems that I have not found any other place. both of them are acrostics to his name Franklin Pierce. The first one is Acrostic sonnet and begins,
" Firm and unshaken as Gibraltar's rock
Round whose broad base the ranging seas contend...
the second one begins
" False hast thou been to they county's high trust,
Raised, (sp?) thou hast laid her fond hope in the dust...."
