Stars

When I look up,
The diamond studded night sky,
I think to myself:

Stars, stars,
Pretty, twinkling stars;
Oh! How I wonder,
Oh! How you capture my imagination.

Stars, stars,
Sparkling, shining stars;
So, it all started with the Big Bang,
Forever at work, churning out more.

Stars, stars,
Bright, brilliant stars;
Billions of you in our Milky Way,
Billions and billions more in other Galaxies.

Stars, stars,
Hot, burning stars;
Around you were planets formed,
Solar Systems are they called.

Sun, sun,
Generous, giving star;
At a precisely perfect distance my home orbits you,
The one and only life harbouring planet Earth, they say.

Sun, sun,
Daylight giving star;
You support life, bursting colours and every blooming glory,
Without you will there be none.

Suns, stars,
Magical, magnificent stars;
Billions of Galaxies with billions of you,
How many more Solar Systems? I wonder!

Suns, stars,
Enigmatic, enchanting stars,
One in a billion, they say,
Is the probability of you owning planets like mine.

Now, when I look up,
The diamond studded night sky,
I often wonder:

Oh! Precious stars,
One in a billion is a lot, I say,
For gazillions of you spread across the Universe,
More than the grains of sand on Earth, they say;
For sure, do I believe you've got,
More planets like mine,
Trillions of light-years away, may be;
If you support extra-terrestrials by chance,
Just tell them I say ‘Hi',
Won't you :)
