The Heart

The pain of the heart echoes silently through the hollow cavity within

Each pulse of acute sharpness lingers in the breathless shadows after its source dies away; Repetitive, unflinching

The pain accumulates as dust does;

Slowly, unnoticed



The breathing, pumping mechanism of life is once slit

An act carried out in haste and zeal

A thin weak scar leaves a mark behind to validate its occurrence



Time passes, a delicate translucent skin forms,

a mother shielding its child from the darkness within

To no avail

The mother, ungraciously torn away

Opening up the wound once more



The same place; the same hurt

A constant, unbreakable cycle

Dragging on for eternity
