Valerie Hutchinson-morgan Poems

1.

I looked for you at dawn’s new sunrise,
Through sleepy hollows and moss covered trails.
I looked through the pile of long buried sorrows,
Searching yesterday for brighter tomorrows.
...

When a beloved one leaves suddenly
Without time for last goodbyes
You search your memory files
Where last times are stored.
...

3.

Darkness descends suddenly,
A soft ebony mantle
Covering the weary earth.
Starlight in the heavens
...

Storm clouds slowly gathering,
Winds whistling, howling
Flood waters rushing in, rising.
Foundations shaking, shifting,
...

A voice carried by the whistling wind,
beckoning from far away,
to sing, to dream,
to listen to the silence
...

We are, after all, each one of us,
no more than grains of shifting sand
moving in time with the rhythm of the waves.
...

Some are crumb catchers.
Happy, content, desperate crumb catchers.
Content to sit on the side lines and catch
whatever crumbs are thrown their way from
...

So many of us are facing serious
problems right now.
You wonder if the light at the end of
the tunnel will ever appear.
...

The old year disappears suddenly,
Like night shadows caught unawares
by sunlight.
...

Across time
The moon rises
With shining stars in attendance
Across the calm, silent ocean
...

Sweet Escape

When negative enters the room,
You find the strength and willpower
...

Cuando negativo entra en el espacio(cuarto) ,
Usted encuentra la fuerza y la voluntad
Levantarse, alejarse de la penumbra.
Marcha atrás a un lugar distante en el lejano

Lost

I looked for you at dawn’s new sunrise,
Through sleepy hollows and moss covered trails.
I looked through the pile of long buried sorrows,
Searching yesterday for brighter tomorrows.
I waited atop the steep, emerald hill,
I lingered by the glassy lake where time stood still.
I looked for you and lost myself.
I lost the one running from the ruins,
The one who vowed to never let love come in.
I lost her by the riverside,
Where she buried her dignity and drowned her pride.

I waited and watched in a quiet cafe.
Lost track of time day after day.
I walked cobbled streets, chased an elusive shadow.
Wherever it turned in my dreams I would follow.
In a dark cathedral with centuries old chanting,
I searched for the times that were so enchanting.
I looked for you and found myself at last.
I found the one who was running from the past.
The one who saw life through a rainbow's prism.
A fallen victim of her own optimism.
