Thomas Warren Poems

It starts out as a whisper
In an unknown foreign language.
It soon becomes normal,
A part of everyday life,
...

Contemplation of what might have been,
that's what'll kill me.
The knowledge she might have loved me,
if I'd have taken that leap.
...

Over in the distance,
I can see my house from here.
Over the sky the clouds dance,
away from me they take my fear.
...

Waiting for inspiration

Your Voice In My Head

It starts out as a whisper
In an unknown foreign language.
It soon becomes normal,
A part of everyday life,
Not to be understood only endured.
Day after day.

Months soon pass and it becomes
A monotony.
The whisper turns into a shout,
becomes louder each day.
never ceasing, only growing.
Day after day.

I'll smile through the pain,
till it becomes unendurable.
I'll laugh through it all,
till I become incapable.
I clasp my hands over my ears
Yet sounds still seeps through.
Louder than before.

You try and repair the wound you made in me,
But only succeed in twisting the knife.
Deeper.
