Thomas Hooker Poems

They're showing in rows,
the trees hung in flowered fleece,
majestic in their offering,
blanketed snowy blossoms
...

Drunk at the university

Trekking towards another life,
our life's stories get passed on,
...

Wrought with persistence,
tender and vulnerable,
alone with doubt
tumbling forward,
...

Faded pages left behind,
dusty jackets and pearls
beyond the deeper days of age
a blood red crimson moon.
...

My silent executioner
leaving again so soon,

carving light out of darkness
...

Discovering the night,
a perfection of dreams
as the memories fade
the ticking of a pendulum
...

White falls
topping pearls of
wet
frozen alabaster
...

These bones
closer to ground,
closer now,
with good hard parts,
...

They met in the wind,
together discreetly lifting
off the ground, taking flight,
blowing in circles, together they rise,
...

A discerning allowance
of garnet and fire
when angels flew
out of the burning wilderness
...

Braided streams of sunlight mingle with the
stones working together in the rock garden,

between the shadows select words rain down
...

Slipping

Red filaments of sun, going down
there's a quiet voice saying nothing,
...

There are many states of consciousness,
perception hides between the cracks in
the sidewalk, where the weeds make
...

I picked up a loose piece of birch bark,
writing nonsense as I carefully study the clouds,
the sky has many shades of gray today,
perhaps the rain will pass this way
...

And so it ends, before it begins,
evening falls on a summers' day,
crooked stones leading down to beach
a mirthful cup of wine.
...

She held the clouds softly in her hands,
twisting the rain out of them,
bits of floating grief lingered,
they scattered like blown laundery,
...

Between the shadows
a faded rose,
a secret dried inside,
the bloom gone long ago,
...

I saw a girl by the lake,
running towards the water,
legs lifted high as she
strutting out deeper,
...

Love lies between them,
waiting for one to look up,
a last look stolen from the night,
where the burden of joy
...

Crimson roses
mixed with greens
standing perfectly still, neatly poised,
confident and composed,

Spring Blossoms

They're showing in rows,
the trees hung in flowered fleece,
majestic in their offering,
blanketed snowy blossoms
covering ivory hills,
the tarts are late this year.
