A Prayer

I pray that I may ever be
As good as God wants me to be
A mother tender, a friend true
Living a he bids us do
An example for my friends to see
A light that shines for God each day
A beacon on life's cold pathway I pray that I may ever see
Good in others and others good in me
Working, toiling ever so
For God and country, friend and foe
A heart that's turned to those in need
Whose life is judged by worthy deeds I pray that one and all may learn
That to the Lord we all can turn
In time of trouble and distress
The Lord our God will know what's best
He'll lead us on through pain and woe
He'll lead us gently, that I know
