Mother

Today I felt dreams fall like rain,
Fall on my shoulders and add to the shame of being me,
Name and all because mum I'm feeling two feet tall.

Today I felt my world implode,
Fall to pieces, hopes corrode.
Because I forgot that love exists and it can hide behind the mist,
Of life and lies and memories and bloodshot eyes, mum.

She taught me to have a heart of kind,
Never stare, always look with an open mind and happy thoughts.
I was left with things that were never taught...to me, mum.

Mum, I have never felt this cold.
My time has glazed over and my skin is like snow,
I'm falling like rain will crash to the ground and now it's time.
To let go.
Mum.
