TAK Erzinger Poems

We swallowed up the summers whole
like the pelicans, with their fish,
queuing on the pier.
...

The White-throated Dipper your wife
enjoys watching in the pond,
bobs and spins round and round.
...

We are like two cats circling,
insecure, heated, fearful.

Each one vying for his place,
...

We cling to you for shelter
and like a greedy lover, we
often ignore your needs,
asking for more than we deserve
...

As a mobile phone begins to vibrate
the fish go about their business in a ghostly dance
unaware of the signals being sent. They are
surrounded by an abyss of hallowed darkness.
...

I store love in a bottle.
When I unscrew the cap—the fragrance smiles.

Scents collected through the visages of
...

Warm earth replete with life
where he sows his seeds.
Each tiny speck cupped in his hand,
delicate and divine.

The Best Poem Of TAK Erzinger

Flooded

We swallowed up the summers whole
like the pelicans, with their fish,
queuing on the pier.

Waves crashed against spindly legs
of oak and my father's reel raced
down into Black Beard's bed

and the reel whistled with a certain
admiration, flirting with the tide.
The salt air licked at our faces

curing and preserving those moments
washed up through the cracks in
our weathered memories.

We are now flooded,

divided by the Atlantic
and landlocked by circumstance.
We've forgotten how to swim.
