Suchitra Prabhakaran Poems

At home, school and everywhere,
I daydream about something I care
The Earth is home to a billion creatures
We learn all about this from our teachers.
...

My Life is like a ship
Carried away to Thee
Sometimes for fun
Sometimes for reasons unknown
...

I wonder every night
When my Angel will come to me?
The twinkling stars I see
I wonder if my Angel is among them
...

This Life is so disguised
With its smiles and hugs
Who needs such stereotypes
When I have no clue about them
...

Transcending lights
Looms over the head
Whispering the secrets of love?
Nope. I do not hear those.
...

She swirls her vehicle
The mirror it reflected
The far away land
A land of promises.
...

A Promise to keep to you my Child
A sweet Promise from Me to You
As I am chained and writhing with pain
You would not know how it hurts when it hurts

Earth- A Wonder

At home, school and everywhere,
I daydream about something I care
The Earth is home to a billion creatures
We learn all about this from our teachers.

Trees, lakes, flowers and more
Animals, lights, and the lion's roar,
Mountains like the The Himalayas and the Alps
Deserts like the Sahara and the Gobi,
The Canyons, the Great Reef and the Angel Falls,
And all the places drawn on the maps.

The Earth is a Miraculous Place
But, what if one day
The Earth begins to die?
And there is nothing left for us.

Has anyone thought about these
Only to be destroyed be us human-beings?

After all these, She still bears us
But the day She cannot take it no longer,
She says, Good-bye, My Children
She lets out a sigh and goes to sleep forever.

With a shake of my hand, I said
'I will do anything save Mother Earth'
And Is My Promise
And that should be Our Promise
