Stephanie Dower Poems

The floorboards creak beneath my feet.
And a hush hangs in the air.
You can smell the dust and old.
Shops like this are rare.
...

Through the forest the moon doth glow,
Reflected in the eyes of a grazing doe.
Trees droop their drowsy limbs,
As a deer laps at the river brim.
...

You are alone. Dreaming?
Standing on a dark dull land.
There is nothing
No light, no time.
...

The moon looms above in a shroud of cloud.
Amber lights flicker in the gloom.
Faces emerge from the darkness.
A wolf howls and a witch rides her broom.
...

The moon's pale face illuminates mine,
As I stand here in the meadow.
I admire the path she's made across the water,
The path I long the tread o'er.
...

The land falls away below me,
The waves crash on the rock.
I see the ships below me,
Waiting in the dock.
...

I just got relaxed when she tugged at my sleeve.
'Mamma, mamma, when can we leave? '
With hopeful eyes that seemed to shout,
'Mamma, mamma, when can we go out? '
...

The warmth of the crackling fire,
The glistening tinsel on the tree.
Children rip ribbons and pull shiny paper.
Exposing gifts and laughing happily.
...

I sat alone in a darkened room.
The fireplace warmed me to the core.
I gazed with tired eyes into the fire,
And was shocked at what I saw.
...

O' sat deep within the swell of the hills.
Our mother lies in all her splendid grace.
Long she has crafted the earth with her skills.
And brought life, love and beauty to this place.
...

Rise over the hill to catch the gleaming loch,
The sun soars high above the mountain's bulk
Trees sing with the hum of the wind,
as the perched brooding buzzards sulk.
...

Deep within the forests of the heart,
Resides a town lit by fireflies.
Dwellings built within the trees,
All beneath the starry skies.
...

I have not met you yet.
But I already love you.
We will find each other I know it.
And then our love will ring true.
...

14.

The floating gardens sing and sway,
Nightingales chorus to a new day.
Koi carp drift lazily amongst the reeds,
Underneath the blossoms of the sakura trees.
...

Close your eyes and listen,
To the waves lapping on the shore.
The velvet sky is glistening,
With stars and clouds that soar.
...

Tears fall from above and drum somberly,
The angel darkens with the skies.
Words fade into the wind,
A single rose reflected in my eyes.
...

Where saphire waters embrace the emerald land,
And golden light trickles through the leaves.
At the place where the mighty mountains stand.
Where the river bends in the valley below.
...

She is woken by a gentle breath.
Ressurected from her wintry death.
Nestled now in the Guardian's crown.
She cries. Her tears fall down.
...

She dances in the sky,
She spirals above the cloud.
Twirling in the lightning,
In her raindropp shroud.
...

(a love poem I sent my boyfriend, Chris)

When I see you shiver,
When I see you cry,

Books Are People

The floorboards creak beneath my feet.
And a hush hangs in the air.
You can smell the dust and old.
Shops like this are rare.
If you listen carefully,
You can hear the muffled snores,
Of every single sleeping book,
In the whole book store.
Gently open up a Tome
And watch it stretch and yawn.
The charming fellow's cover is scuffed,
And some of his pages are torn.

How can anyone say,
That books aren't people or a race?
I say books are people,
Why else have they spines and a face?
