When The Body Speaks Poem by Mohabeer Beeharry

When The Body Speaks

Rating: 5.0

I like when people around
Laugh and talk,
When the air is vibrant with the strength of their childlike exuberance.
It is like sheer creating new locks of happiness.

I would feel like I am watching
The fingers of the early morning sun
Filtering between trees and bushes,
Turning the woodland pond into a sheet of bewitching glamour.
I am thrilled,
This body and mind would turn into a festival of living gaiety.

He who made this body
Knew the flowers
The hills and the mountains, but not this body.

It has changed, coiled into webs of wild and intricate emotions
Tangled and subjected to diseases and lust.
Still he is wrong who says
That the maker does not enjoy his invention,
That there are only tears and suffering here?

The flowers stillblossom so beautifully?
Those dusty faced blooms,
Wild, lonely and ignored by the roadside still smell sweet?

Stop awhile and watch yourself,
Listen to the sounds of your own laughter
When you are happy.

Watch your body speak,
a different language, undiluted, clear and deep
Mirroring the light of the soul within.

This is what God is looking for,
The sincerity beyond everything else
That purity that comes to the surface,
When you forget the gross.
