Stranger In The Mirror Poem by Donna Byrne

Stranger In The Mirror

Sitting here wondering what to say
And nothing seems to be coming my way
Im trying to think of what to write
And nothing seems to be coming out right
Looking out the window at the pouring rain
It's God crying out all of his pain
The words start coming to my head
As i'm sitting on my bed
Looking in the mirror, what do I see?
A total stranger looking back at me
She seems to be lost and I wonder why
Then I look again and I see her cry
I look deeper into her eyes
Trying to find the reason why she cries
She has a barrier around her heart
Like someone tried to tear it apart
The closer I look
The more I see
The lost, hurt little girl, is me
