Never Surrender Poem by Amanda Thomas

Never Surrender

We ran down the street together
A streak of torn clothing and fishnet stockings
Cheap liquor running through our veins
Fresh cuts on our arms
Unruly hair and unruly lives

We thought we'd be this way forever
Our favorite band would never stop playing
We'd always be standing in front
Screaming along with every song
We'll never settle down, not even for a second.

All I have to remember those days
Are a fist full of ticket stubs
Wristbands from hospitals
Old vinyl records gathering dust in the corner of my room.
