Mary Poem by Adrija Dey

Mary

Rating: 4.7

Paper smoke and alluminium foil,
Leaves that burn your system spoil,
Plastic syringe, needles pierce,
Mom say, Turn back, I say urge.
Sleepless nights, desperation I say
Mary my love, my lady in white

Walking along the dusty roads called doom
Still I walking staring at the steel moon
I stagger, I fall but I breathe again
Smoke fills my lungs, my heartaches.
Crying all night, frustration I say
Mary my love, my lady in white

All alone I stay awake
The candle burns for my spirits sake
Caffeine and cocaine fills my mind
Mom says move on; I say I’ll die
Cellophane flowers red, blue and green
But I see only white, glittering silver beams
I want to move on but Mary holds me back
Let me go I scream
She smiles and says – ‘try your luck’
She seduces me every moment here
I am but a man not free of desire.
Addiction, Attraction she may say
Separation- please will you give it to me today?
I live in a dark dungeon but I see a ray of hope
Mary my love, today you have to let me go
Cursing me with your charming spells, you made me die
Then you laughed at me, when all alone I cried
Today I understand, sinner I am
Mary my past, my lady in white
