Maria Poem by Dylan Attard

Maria

Rating: 4.5

Maria what became of us?
We fell in and out of love so fast.
And all that remains in our hearts.
Is the regret that we didn't even start.
Because once you begin you know it will end.
And then I'm left just another friend.
We held hands and you said this is the last.
We fell in and out of love so fast.

Maria why did you have to go?
Leave me here, cold and alone.
Maria your name scratches my brain.
The record spins around and around.
The CD's scratched and the song won't play.
The tape recorder is finally out of sound.
And the guitar string snaps to kill me now.
I sing out songs that remind me of you.
But what was one is now two.

Music makes the heart grow stronger,
Forget the pain and love no longer.
Maria where'd you go?
You went left I went right.
I turned around and the fog had consumed you.
I ran after you to find the light.
And when the darkness finally fell from my eyes.
You were gone.

Smell, sight and sound.
The thoughts race around through my mind.
It feels like my brain is shattered into two.
I hear the snap, my muscles twinge.
And now I scream, my blood is burning.
My heart twists and pulses, pounding hard.
My body burns for you to hold.
But these flames surround.
And pull me down into the devils arms.

My throat is dry,
My tounge is tied,
But I scream and plea for you to stay.
Maria don't go away,
I can't lose you yet.
I don't want to forget.
This can't end.
I'm not just another friend!
