Love On The Rocks Poem by Alfred Ramos

Love On The Rocks

My heart is like a dead flower
Lying dry and withered with no power
I knew it would be hard to let go
And both you and I know
I couldn’t persuade you to stay
We stored excess baggage along the way
My heart feels a like a rainbow washed out
All colors faded as I waded in a sea of doubt
I couldn’t change your mind
We fell in a dark hole that desire couldn’t find
As you slipped through my fingers
Pain leads the way as love lingers
My weak smile is disguised as sadness
Lost in a mirage was gladness
I couldn’t make you see
This tangled mess of hypocrisy
That my love for you was genuine
Now two broken hearts won’t intertwine
And so the final curtain falls
We won’t be making any curtain calls
It seems we just missed our cue
And it’s sad that I will never get to say I love you
