Limelight Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Limelight

Limelight

I watched it in Tehran
-I was young, very young
-more for show to say I
-know and can understand…

But did I?

I guess I knew that
-Chaplin talked for first time
-that was it, that was all
-of that film nothing but
-name remained in my mind

This time though she sent it
-to force me change my mind
-leave the pills and death-thoughts
-therefore I, turned river and cried

Still am waiting for him to come
-with him come the results
-way to live or leave life
-money-wise no outcome

In all though my best is
-keep hanging to pride
-yet ready to work hard
-with work can be alive

If not death is the best.
