mandela an african icon
like many a continents great men,
like many a nations hero
who rise from humble birth
to become a gandhi to his people
an awolowo to his nation
and the list endless grows
but there is still space for you and me
to grace the lips and pages of history
to be a motivator, a model to future people
to spring forth flowers from our hithertho bushes
and make our today a better tommorow
slightly political but futuristic as well; a good message to the youth
