I'Ve Been Alone Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

I'Ve Been Alone

I've been alone for so long
I learned to live with it.
Sadness does not have me owned
Nor Happiness, forfeit.

I like the peace and freedom here-
The absence of dispute
Unchained from all the dreary tears,
I enjoy this solitude.

I don't know where Aloneness leads
Perhaps in time, it will bid goodbye
When Life is over, to rest indeed
Alone in the graveyard I will lie.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is not about loneliness, it is about solitude and for those who cannot grasp what 'solitude' means it is an inner peace and does not mean being 'lonely' or needing someone. I assumed everybody understood that, but unfortunately some do not.47365

This is fantastic. I think that as one grows older, solitude is viewed in a new light. Thank you.
