I Don'T Even Know Your Name. Poem by R.M. Wright

I Don'T Even Know Your Name.

Rating: 5.0

Hello, I don’t know your name, yet.
But I know you are the one for me.
I have not lived a good life, always
Running around and sleeping around
And lying about what love is.
I know I sound horrible,
And a part of me was.
But something changed
And it’s hard to explain.
You see I found God waiting for me.
He knew I would come to a cross road
My will would fail
And he waited patiently for me.
He let me cry and rail
And he held me in his embrace
He simply waited until I was done and said.
“You have lived your life your way,
Not the life I planned for you.
You have made all of your choices
Without listening to me,
Now my child I have never forsaken you,
But sometimes, we have to learn
Those painful lessons before you are
willing to hear what I have
Planned for you.”
He picked me up and smiled
As he held me close, he whispered to me.
“I have waited for this day to tell you
I have the most amazing
Woman for you, she is smart and funny
And will love you unconditionally.”
God looked down at me,
“I have waited to tell you that
I have planned
This for you all of your life.
She is waiting and wondering
About her future too.
But I have a surprise for both of you,
I made you for each other,
And that’s truth.”
God walked with me a bit longer
Along my lonely road to you.
I felt awkward at times,
lonely and confused.
I accepted that
God had you in mind this whole time.
And everyday
I write you a letter talking to you,
Telling you
How much I love you,
and I don’t know your name, yet.
When we meet
And we’re settled and content,
I will share with you
All the love letters and conversations I wrote to you.
How proud I am of you.
How you have changed my life,
how you have been my strength.
All of my dreams, fears and desires,
You have been my inspiration and
My constant companion,
You are the greatest love affair I have ever had.
And I don’t even know you name, yet.
