Hurts So Good Poem by Dale Mouscos

Hurts So Good

When things are good, they really are great,
You get so excited that you don't want to wait.
Everything seems to be going your way,
You cannot imagine the very next day.
Just then out of nowhere, and you would never expect,
How the tables have turned by a lack of respect.
When someone goes out of their way just to say,
Whatever it takes to ruin your day.
And because your positive feelings were strong,
You cannot bear to think how fast it went wrong.
We know what goes up will surely come down,
But to fall from that high you would probably drown.
These deliberate intentions will not remain just,
Consider it a lesson about who not to trust.
You can look at this ordeal as a way to test your strength,
Or challenge your ego to significant length.
If you can handle an insult and not let it hurt,
Then if it ever gets worse, you'll at least be alert.
Your character is and will be what you make it,
You can only help yourself, and to that you must admit.
