Good & Evil Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Good & Evil

You cannot hide a worthy deed
Nor truth behind one’s hand
As these are Heaven’s righteous seed
For fruit in fertile land

Yet sin God’s eyes can always see
And lies are Satan’s breath
If from such things our lives aren’t free
They’ll lead to certain death

True love is tender always sweet
Love’s peace to heart and soul
Freely given to all we meet
Can heal and make us whole

But hate is harsh its vile and cruel
To souls a bitter pill
From Satan’s realm, this evil tool
Can lead mankind to kill

Give love, and love will soon return
Give of your service free
Provide to those who need concern
And see the devil flee

Greed is a selfish way of life
A glutton’s stagnant well
It causes pain brings endless strife
And leads to death and hell

Doubt is the devil’s cunning snare
A barrier to learn
He seeks with worldly blind to share
That they with him may burn

Yet faith’s a gift from God on high
A precious jewel so rare
Like yeast, it too can multiply
Till endless life we share
