From The Other Side Poem by Bancroft Boreland

From The Other Side

I look on from the other side
And envy you for your chance at life
Love smiles seductively at me
But it’s a smile-less smile
Comfort wraps her arms around me
But her touch is a touch-less touch
Joy puts her soft lips against mine
But her kiss is a kiss-less kiss
Here I am in a place that’s place-less
While the Earth is drowning in my unshed tears
There are no months or days in my years

The gift of life I was never given
And yet I feel like it’s been taken away
They say life is a game
Will anyone let me play?
