I never said that I
stopped loving you,
just that I couldn't
live with you again;
I thought that you
had changed,
from the way
that you once had been.
But nothing's changed,
except we're much older;
but you won't lay your head,
once more - upon my shoulder.
And what we had... has gone
in hiding,
affection, loving, hope;
it's like it never was,
I feel like such a dope.
A dope, to take you back
to think that we could regain;
the laughter and the love,
and just forget the pain.
But then, the tie was broken,
now it's broken for all time;
and all I have is bitterness,
and this broken, fractured rhyme.
