Fevered Poem by Jennifer Hartman

Fevered

I don't want to close my eyes
Sleep's luring song fails to enchant tonight
Fury flurries about my thoughts
And covers over the dusting
Of the Sandman's sleeping salts
Night's embrace has become pinched and confining
Poke another hole in the sky
So I can breathe
Snap all ties with the Earth
Snag your life
On the jagged point of a star-
A soul ascending the heavens
Unburdened of body
And assisted by Grace

I agree with Gessner, the formatting in terms of line breaks, punctuation, and varying diverse format of this poem and, in my opinion, of all four poems you have submitted to this site, demonstrates a poet who is unbridled and opens the floor for much interpretation to the readers. Well done. Beautiful images.

For me, it painted a beautifully vivid paradox - of feeling bound by night's infinity. It takes a great deal of imagination to blend such contrary ideas. Mad props and nothing short of genius. Love you.
