Fall Down Poem by Les Campbell

Fall Down

The wet rain drops heavy like bricks in water.
The splash they resinate are apparent on my wet pants legs and shirt sleeve.

The walk through the hallway leading to the escaltor seems eternal, i look at the faces that pass me by but none are familiar or warm for that matter.
I ride slowly down the moving steps, a small crowd for a late lunch, no matter i'm single no need for table for two.
I collect my small lunch and make towards the line. I let a cafe worker pass through and as i look up there you are smiling and talking walking towards me.

I lose my breathe and gather myself against the cashier station. I don't dare look back up to see if you saw me seeing you.
As i sat at the table eating i thought of what you said before, what would you say if were to call- let alone see me in less crowded cafeteria..there's nothing to say...

I walked back in the rain, the heavy rain drops seem to avoid me and for a minute it stopped raining. I didn't think i would act that way if i were to see you again...but you completely froze me. Seeing you felt like being punched and there's nothing i could do but try to breathe................

Wow I could literally feel the emotions in this. Sad, but wonderfully written. Joyce
