Everyday Poem by Nancy L Cohen

Everyday

Everyday comes at me differently.
I have thoughts of you but then I try to make them go away.
I feel like I want to talk to you but then I keep my words.
It is hard to go from sharing everything to sharing nothing.
Will time heal this? I hope so!
You have your life, I have mine!
They are supposed to be separate. Right?
Sometimes the sting of it all is unbearable, but this was my choice. Right?
You have to know that I miss you.
You have to know that I care about you.
You also have to know that I can’t share everything with you anymore.
This process of trying to figure out how life operates without you is hard and unfamiliar.
Everyday I know I will fail in some way.
You have called me selfish, but do you know all of my thoughts and battles within concerning you?
No! Why? Because I don’t want to show you how weak I am sometimes.
I know these words will never be enough, but you have to know they are sincerely from my heart.
Matt, I am sorry! !
