Enemy Poem by Frankie Renae

Enemy

please bring back the time to me
quit takin' it all away
there's so many things I need
words I missed the chance to say
'cause my tears are fallin' for no reason
cheatin' on my happiness
as chronic depression breaks in the treason
I become my enemy and miss
don't I know things are going so well?
but the drops behind my eyes are starting to swell

Chorus:
but nobody knows that she gets sad
that life is thick and perfection-clad
the smile's on her face, her days are fun
but the endorphins fade too soon after the run
her soul is full of life and bliss
and the sun finds her still awake longing for your hug and his kiss

I never feel it 'till I'm down
I'm afraid my strength will fade if I frown
wishin' for just one good breakdown, I
to push these inhibitions and let them see me cry
'cause they know I'm high on life, I'm high on life,
high on life, on life for real
but coming down, coming down, always comes around
and it sucks

Chorus

how can I help it if homesick sets in station
when I'm on my one damn dream vacation
I didn't write this fantasy
But it's sure got good at playin' me
oh__ enemy
please bring back the time to me
quit takin' it all away
there's so many moments I need
passed me by, but I still want to say
tell my no-reason tears to stop fallin'
hey, you, treason, I'm callin'
oh___ah____________enemy______

but nobody knows that she gets sad
that life is thick and perfection-clad
the smile's on her face, her days are fine
but the endorphins fade too soon along with time
her soul is full of life and bliss
enemy, bring back the time I miss
oh___ah____________enemy______
enemy
enemy___________________enemy_____enemy.
