Emmanuel Poem by Midifo Yearns

Emmanuel

In loneliness the heart sinks deep
the night is long, the shadows seep
into the crevices of mind and being
and there is blindness and no seeing

Except for sight that comes from faith
and holds the heart and keeps it safe.
It opens to the light of day
it gives us words with which to say:

O come, please come and to my life
give meaning that can conquer strife
give praise that knows there’s beauty there
in every tiny, little snare
that threatens yes, but cannot kill
the heartbeat or the focused will.
