Eat Your Greens Poem by Neil Moulang

Eat Your Greens

Way back in the 60's, when I was just a kid
I got me a spankin', so I ran away and hid
My dad he got the strap out, and said " come on now please
I'm gonna have to wallop you - until you eat your peas.

Next weekend at the table, I thought well let's be fair
I was sitting near my mother, sitting in the old high chair.
In Dad's eyes he had the look, the look you know he means.
He said "You'll sit forever - until you eat your greens'

Next night I'd be sitting there, wondering what's in store.
I'd eaten every veg thereis - couldn't possible be more.
Mum would try to fool me - said that vegies give you power.
"Please for mother, be a good boy - and eat your cauliflower"

Now that I am grown up and eat at fancy places
I eat everything on the plate - never making any faces.
Sometimes meals have fancy names, and I don't know what it means.
I always have to ask the waiter - "does this come with greens? "
