Divorced Poem by Charles M Moore

Divorced

The wife has just left me
the dog had just died
she wasn't upset
and I wasn't surprised
she sold the house
and I rented a flat
I guess now I'm gone
she won't want me back

She hit the bank account
I hit the wine
she wanted divorced
from that pig and that swine
she wanted freedom
I felt I was trapped
I'm sure now I'm gone
she won't want me back

She changed her lifestyle
I sold my car
she waltzed with the in crowd
I sat at the bar
she got promoted
I took in a cat
I think now I'm gone
she won't want me back

She goes out riding
I walk the streets
she has friends to dinner
I avoid meat
I feel I'm still lucky
a shirt on my back
I couldn't afford her
I don't want her back.

That's the right attitude, seeing that the glass is half full, not half empty. Keep it up. Warmly, Julia

Well observed and well written. As a twice divorced lucky man I know what you mean. Brian

Charlie - Great that you can look at both sides of the situation. Sometimes you just have to laught so you don't cry. It's too pathetic, and therefore almost funny. You put just the right twist on it..................love it! Linda
