Cowboy Hat Poem by Juan Olivarez

Cowboy Hat

Rating: 5.0

A cowboy hat flew by on the wind,
And I started thinking, where it had been.
Did it come from the desert hot and dry,
Or from the mountains, high in the sky.

Was it Roy's hat, or maybe Gene's?
Maybe on the duke's head, it had been.
Was it a bad guy's like Roy Barcroft,
I thought of this as it flew aloft.

Or was it a cowgirls hat that just flew by,
It was a western hat, that I couldn't deny.
It was dumped in the street, by the wind,
And lay there forlorn, like it needed a friend.

I picked it up, and put it on my head,
And it fit perfect, and I was glad.
Next time I'll tie it around my chin,
So this darned hat, won't fly off again.

Great one pard, I was wondering where it came from, and then you threw in that last great line! Very good, for sure!
