Chinese Restaurant Poem by Charles Chaim Wax

Chinese Restaurant

Rating: 5.0

on Broadway and 13th street
reading about insects in
Edwin O. Wilson’s tome
then I see one
huge
moving ever so slowly
hope it doesn’t come
my way
if it does
gonna smash it
yet desiring not to think
such thoughts
accepting Buddha’s pure truth—
all life is scared.
close my eyes
to make the creature
disappear
smile
at least I can still
smile—
one more failed solution
in a life
littered with such moments.
