Caterpillar Poem by Laura Lee (Davis) Snyder

Caterpillar

I watch your mandibles tear
straight through sweet flesh and bones
of leaves. Your appetite to survive drives you.
After the wintering, I will fly,
released from my shroud of silk like you.
I watch you now to see how
it is done.
