Burning Blue Poem by Mike Conkey

Burning Blue

Rating: 5.0

As the sun goes down
it burns the same
as it did in the sky
even if we cant see it
its still burning
simply burning
like the deepest blood in my heart
it burns for her
as she kissed me that one last time
i saw the end was near
my choices caused me
to fall apart
she finally left me
walking away
with her eyes so dry
like my words so dry
as i tried to call her name
but my chords told my mind
that calling was no use
so i turned away cold that night
like burning ice
never the same again
but i think of it now and then
realizing that my fires dimming down
with little left to burn
