Blank Poem by asma bahrainwala

Blank

Rating: 4.7

The cursor blinking
On a blank page,
As blank as
My blank mind.

I wait for words
To come to me,
But today my thoughts
Elude me.

This mind is a complex maze.
This vacuity leaves me in a total daze.

I type in a few words,
Then delete;
Again type in,
Again delete.

Seems I have lost my gift.

The cursor blinking
On a blank page,
As blank as
My blank mind.

I am at my wit’s end.
Impatient
As a glutton
At the mere sight of food.

This ‘food’ is just an illusion.
This craving causes immense frustration.

I try to grab at my thoughts
How cleverly they evade me!
Again I try,
Again they trick.

Seems I have lost my gift.

The cursor blinking
On a blank page,
As blank as
My blank mind.

Asma, you certianly haven't' lost your gift'. You have conveyed eloquently the frustration of those days when inspiration fails us. Your words will resonate with many. Justine.

Well now, it seems the page isn't so blank anymore ;) . Great expression. This seems to be written as if it could be a song. I enjoyed this read.

Wonderful Asma, you definitely have captured fear of the poet. I can certainly relate, sitting at my computer with the blank page in front of me waiting for the words to come. Just last week I said to my friend 'I think it's gone, I don't think I can write anymore'. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this thought. As a poet my patience level is definitely limited. Thankyou for this one Asma, I love it.------Melvina--

It happens with everbody. Our mind going into hibernation and refusing to restart. Nicely conveyed.
