Black & White Poem by Donna Hendra

Black & White

There is so much confusion in this world we live in
I have no idea where to begin

Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make
Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make

School and friends what a mess
Makes you wonder if home schoolings best
Either way you’ll get problems I reckon
When you’re at home the outdoors beckons
Yet when you’re at school, bitchiness rules
Be it against him, her or even you
Both ways pros and cons
But it’s all fatal like a nuclear bomb

Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make
Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make

Im not blaming school for my misgivings
I just wonder why we aren’t taught things
Things we really need to know
Like when to say I love you
And when to say no!
We really need to learn and the only way
We can, is through first hand experience
Whether to join a confrontation
Or whether just to duck and run

Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make
Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make
Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make
Can I learn anything?
Anything from mistakes
From mistakes I don’t make

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Eddie Roa 12 January 2009

Hi! I’m Eddie Roa and I just got in to this website. By chance I came across your name in the list of poets and read some of your works. Good writes. I have posted some of my poems today and a few days ago.. My style ranges from light to dark poetry (modern enough but not postmodern) and some Japanese verse forms like haiku, senryu and tanka. I hope you will bother to check out my work. Thanks and happy writing.
