Black Sunday Poem by Adryan Barnathan

Black Sunday

One moment you were here
and in an instant
you were gone

Head hung in a noose
eyes popping out
tongue hanging out

You extinguished
your life force

Love was not
enough
to kill the pain
that was killing you
in slow degrees

''Complete''
was not enough
with the girl
who made you feel
alive
and blind with love

It was not enough
to kill the pain
that made you
die a horrible
death

So I am left
with the pain
that you tried
to get rid of

Six months
of awful
suffering
and self torment

''I couldn't save you''
on the day of
your independance.
