Black Gold Poem by Patrick Adholla

Black Gold

Flammable and corrosive liquid also known as petroleum or black gold
We want to separate from you, the twenty first century will be green;
You make Earth a wicked place but is necessary to every household,
On every continent, you cause pollution, wars and corrupt human beings.

Flowing in the veins of most technologies and industries at work on our planet
Without you an economy doesn't breathe, a country suffocates,
Black gold, at your funerals superpowers will mourn and cry,
In the meanwhile, let them negotiate your prices, conspire and fight wars.

Well handled by multinationals who have destroyed ecosystems
In countries where you are abundant, for the economy, you are like a clutch;
Aftermaths of your spills always reveal your dark side and true nature;
When you are under someone's land, he only has God to trust.

Elected as the raw material of a materialistic new world,
Other sources of energy are neglected, only environmentalists use them.
In your absence there is no production, engines cease to work and become thirsty;
You are a hard drug therefore in your commerce there is no equity.
