Bitter Poem by Charlie F. Kane

Bitter

You shouldn’t be so bitter, my dear,
It doesn’t suit your silent tones.
I know you must be upset,
But I never lied to you-
I told you not to believe this truth
And so you preferred the idea to the man.
I do not believe it all my fault
That you never knew that I wasn’t
The same person you thought I was.
I know it’s hard to raise your head to speak,
But sometimes you have to do it
To be able to get what you want.
Don’t be so bitter, my dear,
Because it is not entirely my fault.
