Avalon Poem by Charles M Moore

Avalon

Rating: 5.0

Down by the green glen's river
down by the bluebell woods
where the willow branches shiver
in the tall oaks neighbourhood
close by the pixie dell
where the fairies dance and play
that's where you'll find the beauty
of the unicorn at bay

Oh, through the morning glory
as the mists begin to clear
you can smell the flowers and woodsmoke
from the hermit's cave that's near
you can sometimes hear him singing
some strange lilt that no one knows
as he makes the magic crystals
in the kingdom Avalon.

Oh My Goodness! This is one of the greatest poems I have read to date. The beautiful images of the river and I could almost smell the woodsmoke. As for the hermit, well, let him be because he seems to know exactly what he is doing in his cave of poetry. You've blown me away with this one. I don't know if you are aware but there is a river near me called the river'Biss', and there is an opening at one point between Bradford On Avon and Trowbridge, this is called 'Biss Mouth'.It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.Tall trees surround, And such an atmosphere.Thankyou for the reminder. If you want the truth, on my way home from work today I was contemplating this place before reading your excellent poem. How strange the order in nature.Love Duncan
