As Time Goes By. Poem by Lance Carthen

As Time Goes By.

These thoughts came like a hurricane.
From a cold winter of long ago.

In a house simply ravishing.
Now a pile of bricks and shrubs overgrown.

My dear let our love never falter.
In this house our family shall grow.

Let our children bring their children.
To our humble, but beautiful home.

A pond full of life sat behind its magnificient garden.
Now a dry pit and and scorched earth of many years alone.

May our memories be of merry.
What was once alive and loved.

Words spoken like a whisper in the echo of its past.
Large spiny cactus sit where precious memories were made.

Alone with a million memories.
Slowly decaying into eternity.

Rubble sits where the past has marked its way.
What once seemed to breathe.

Sadly...has seen its final days.
