Anyone For Tennis? Poem by Eric Bult

Anyone For Tennis?

When I was young I never used the phone,
There wasn't one at home 'till I was ten.
And when I started work I went alone
To bank the cash for town's rates, such was then
The calm environment of former days.
There was no rush, though surely everything,
Or nearly everything, was done by ways
That over time had shown to be unfailing.
Our modern pace of life has proved to be
Too fast for those whose lives are firmly set
In ways developed over time, like me.
But nonetheless I'll strive to meet it yet!

Life's just like tennis. I may lose this set:
I shall my standards raise to win this bet!
