POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is one of my most favourite poems that I have written. At first read through, this micropoetry might seem a little odd but there are deep metaphors at work. When matter and antimatter collide they annihilate each other, hence the title, and so we are looking at opposites and more importantly balance. So where the anti cat with its nine deaths would counter balance the cat with its nine lives, we can suggest we all have our own anti us, within us, providing balance to our emotions and behaviour; that little voice in our ear, our conscience, our moral guidance but sometimes it is strained (do not curse me) . Sometimes we have complex inner conflict - collisions - and we are our own annihilator.
