Anchor Poem by Valarie C

Anchor

They call it falling in love because
You don't even realize you're falling,
until you're about to hit the ground
and their name tumbles from your lips-
takes over your thoughts
An unfamiliar fondness in your chest,
their presence leaves you breathless
and their beauty inhabits your mind
their touch burns your skin
yet they're all you could hope to find,
and as you fall, you can only hope
that their arms are the anchors
which keep you from hitting the ground.
