Amigos Para Siempre? Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Amigos Para Siempre?

Amigos para siempre?

White, was the ball,
Red, were the rackets,
And green, the table.

Exactly like a flag,
Mexican, Italian, Iran's,
And many more.

And the net in the centre
Was an insignia,
Same as Iran's "Sun and Lion".

And they
The two players
On the ends of the table,
Played their game.

Both were cheaters,
Of a kind…

Stalin was gone,
A friend was lost,
Khrushchev rose high,
He was not the kind,
Mao could not trust.

Prior disliked Joseph,
Him, Mao liked,
As if looking in a mirror.

Discussions down the line,
Backhand, forehand, chop,
Died and landed the ball,
Moscow lost a friend,
A friend that had never had,
In it full of its Asian way…

Washington picked up an egg,
The egg was of the snake,
Cherished it as a jewel,
Preserved it, in warm pocket!

It hatched and grew,
With fangs and venom.

Shouts Washington, scared:
"Python, python! "

We, on the side and idle
Watch the unity of serpents,
Back together as old friends.

Beijing meets Kremlin,
We do not care.

Washington shouts:
"Leftists! Communists! "

Pentagon has been a shepherd,
With lies, and lies, and lies,
Again, now, sounds the same!

Many times, we rushed,
Did so, with trust,
Many times,
But claims were false…

"No more, Nor more,
No more to be fooled, "
We say and stay, still.

We ignore the jackal fighting fox:
"Let them fight, let them fight! "

We say and we know,
The end loser is us,
Regardless of the winning side.

We know they are twins.
We know they are devils.
We know we are sacrifice.

We know!
We know!
We know!

And still, idle,
We sit and observe,
Their fire to come, burn,
Our home as the first target!
