All Through The Night Poem by Heidi Wiggin

I hear my mama cryin all through the night
She isnt sure how long she can continue the fight
Shes just tryin to survive
She finally falls asleep at five
I hear the baby cryin all through the night
She hears noises but she cant see. she was born without sight
Mama sings and rocks her
She falls asleep to the low murmur
I hear my daddy cryin all through the night
He knows what he did at work wasnt right
But he cant seem to tell his boss
The money would be a huge loss
I hear my sister cryin all through the night
Shes gettin weaker. Shes losein her might
Shes lost every thing she thought she knew
She cant lose herself, too
I hear my brother cryin all through the night
Hes scared of the dark. He wont let mama turn out the light
He doesnt understand whats goin on
He doesnt know that every thing he knows is about to be gone
I hear myself cryin all through the night
The pain in my heart feels like a fatal snake bite
I wish I could make the pain go away
I wish there was some thing encouraging I could say
Is it always gonna be this way?
