All Quiet On The Western Front Poem by Bill Cantrell

All Quiet On The Western Front

Rating: 5.0

Broken butterfly,
you are coming to your end
Will you be remembered,
as your fragments tumble with the wind?

If in your life, you caught one glance
and caused a child to ponder life,
once called to fight against his will,
your beauty taught him wrong from right

In the storm of raining lead,
while perched upon a blade of grass,
he reached to greet you with a touch,
a bullet stopped him in his tracks

A beautiful poem with beautiful imagery written upon a tragic theme war and nature, yet even in nature predation predator prey hunger survival, death can be swift or broken torn lingering.
